TRAINING OVERVIEW

The Association's Academy trainings are for first time PA|PG|PC staff who need to understand the basics of the work they do, staff that have been on the job awhile but would like a refresher of the basics and Association partners interested in the work PA|PG|PC's do in California that may align with their own work.

Training agenda is as follows.

1st Day

  • 8:30am-9am - Networking
  • 9am-12pm - PG|PC Basics 
  • 12pm-1pm - Lunch break
  • 1pm-3pm - Documentation
  • 3pm-5pm - Inventory & Appraisals

2nd Day

  • 8:30am-9am - Networking
  • 9am-11am - Ethics 101
  • 11am-1pm - Court Accounting
  • 1pm-2pm - Lunch break 
  • 2pm-4pm - PA Basics

Detailed descriptions of each class offered will be listed under each workshop and cover:

  • PA Basics (2 credits)
  • PG|PC Basics (3 credits)
  • Documentation 101 (2 credits)
  • Court Accountings (2 credits)
  • Inventory & Appraisals (2 credits) and
  • Ethics (2 credits)

You must select which workshops you will be attending as part of the ticket process. Your workshop selections will be used to track attendance at the event. You must sign up for at least 5 workshops or your registration will be canceled.

  • If your membership is lapsed and you register for this event, your registration will be canceled one week before the event takes place. To attend you must either be a community partner or an active member. 
  • There are a total of 50 spots available for this Academy
  • Hotel rooms are on a first come, first serve basis.
    • Members will not have to pay for their hotel rooms if they are part of the room block that the Association is paying for unless the reservation is canceled within 30 days of the event.
    • The Association's room block is now booked and full.
    • The member must work at least 51 miles or more away from the training location to receive reimbursement for a hotel room.
    • If you reserve a room through the Association and cancel within 30 days of the event, your county will be responsible for covering the fees incurred by the Association.

  • If you will be requesting reimbursement for the training, you will need to submit the travel reimbursement form as well as original receipts within 10 business days of the academy training

TRAINING OVERVIEW

The PG|PC Basics workshop is designed to provide a general overview of the following: criteria for establishing a Conservatorship; the powers, authorities, and legal aspects of filing a petition; managing the client's care and estate assets, including a review of basic public benefit programs; and documentation best practices that cover what should and should not be included in case documentation, the essential components of effective documentation and documentation for court reports. 

This specific training focuses solely on Public Guardian and Public Conservator roles though Public Administrators and those in other related disciplines may benefit from the training as well

TRAINING OVERVIEW

The Ethics 101 workshop is designed to provide a basic familiarity with public service ethical concepts and fiduciary duties including the distinctions between fiduciary duty and public service duty, the importance of public perception regarding your ethics and to encourage thinking beyond legal restrictions.

This specific training benefits Public Administrators, Guardians and Conservators as well as partners in public service that are held to a higher fiduciary standard of performance.
