Self-care, Work, and Well-being: Finding the Balance on Caring for Yourself While Caring for Others: Public Administrators, Public Guardians and Public Conservator, play a key role in supporting vulnerable individuals and their families. Without adequate self-care, the burden of your work demands can lead to severe physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual distress, which may result in burnout and compassion fatigue.

PRESENTERDr. Mirian Ofonedu

Dr. Mirian Ofonedu, Ph.D, LCSW-C is the Director of Training at the Maryland Center for Developmental Disabilities at the Kennedy Krieger Institute, where she has been since 2004. She received a master’s degree in Social Work, with a specialization in service to children, youth, and families, from the University of Maryland and her doctorate degree in Psychology from the Capella University. Dr. Ofonedu has a broad background in teaching, research, and clinical work. She wrote a Resource Guide entitled Self-care, Work, and Well-being: Finding the Balance on Caring for Self While Caring for Others. She holds an Associate Faculty position at the Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health, Department of Mental Health and an Adjunct Faculty position at the University of Maryland School of Social Work.

 The training will take place on March 21st from 10:00 am-12:00 pm via Zoom

An email with the Zoom link and instructions on how to attend will be sent out a day prior to the training. 

The training is virtually designed to ensure that the benefits of in-person trainings are still available. This will include being able to ask questions, have access to the training materials, and converse with fellow members. 

You must complete the entire registration process to be added to the training list. You will know the process is completed when the page clearly indicates confirmation that you are registered and provides a receipt. That receipt is proof of your registration and is important to have for your records.
