TRAINING OVERVIEW

Advanced Leadership Academy is for tenured leaders who currently serve as supervisors and managers. The trainings offered in this event position professionals for next-level leadership, with topics focusing on Understanding your Leadership Strengths, Managing within the County System, Effective Coaching, Mentoring, and Training Employees, and Tying it All Together.  This in-person option includes networking opportunities and travel cost reimbursements. The deadline to register for this training is November 1st.

Training agenda is as follows.

Thursday - November 16, 2023

  • 8:00am-8:30am - Registration Opens
  • 8:30am-9am - Building Connections & Introduction to the Academy
  • 9:00am-11:45am - Leadership Through Your Strengths
  • 11:45am-12:45pm - Lunch on your own
  • 12:45pm-2:45pm - Leading and Managing within a County System
  • 3pm-5pm - Leading Your Team

Friday - November 17th, 2023

  • 8:30am-9am - Building Connections
  • 9am-12pm - Effectively Coaching, Mentoring, & Training Others
  • 12pm-12:30pm - Wrap Up & Conclusion

Detailed descriptions of each class offered will be listed under each workshop and cover:

  • Leadership Through Your Strengths (3 credits)
  • Leading and Managing within a County System (2 credits)
  • Leading Your Team (2 credits)
  • Effectively Coaching, Mentoring, & Training Others (3 credits)

You must select which workshops you will be attending as part of the ticket process. Your workshop selections will be used to track attendance at the event. You must sign up for all workshops or your registration will be canceled.

  • If your membership is lapsed and you register for this event, your registration will be canceled one week before the event takes place. To attend you must either be a community partner or an active member. 
  • There are a total of 50 spots available for this Academy
  • Our room block is now full. If you require accomodation we will reimburse hotel fees for up to $250 per night for two nights but you are responsible for booking your own hotel.
  • Academy rules and what travel costs will be reimbursed can be found here
  • If you will be requesting reimbursement for the training, you will need to submit the travel reimbursement form as well as original receipts within 10 business days of the academy training

TRAINING OVERVIEW

The Strengthsfinder assessment allows you to gain insights into your unique strengths and talents. In this session we will explore how to leverage and hone your unique strengths as a leader, regardless of your role. Becoming self-aware is the foundation of emotional intelligence, and the more you understand what makes you tick in terms of your top strengths and your weaknesses, the more you can be effective, creative, and engaged. We will also explore how knowing your strengths improves your communication approach, your leadership style, and encourages better understanding and collaboration within your team. This session will be highly interactive.

TRAINING OVERVIEW

This training will focus on how you, a supervisor/manager of others, can assist in their Individual Development to build stronger people and teams.  Participants will learn about adult learning and models for developing effective trainings.  They will also gain a better understanding of their roles as both coaches and mentors to their staff.  Participants will leave knowing how to use these skills and techniques to facilitate staff’s development, enhance their teams, and build their leadership pipeline.
